Overview
CW-DSD
A Windows command-line PCM-to-DSD encoder with DSF, DFF and raw output, adaptive processing and preservation-focused channel handling.
Features
- DSF, DFF and raw DSD output
- Extension-based output-format selection
- --format override when explicit selection is required
- WAV, RF64 and FLAC PCM input workflows
- Adaptive multi-profile noise-shaping approach
- DSF ID3v2.3 metadata and cover-art support
- Channel-layout preservation where the container supports it
- No automatic upmixing or downmixing
- Progress display, --quiet mode and Ctrl+C cleanup
- Windows x64 and x86 release builds
Practical comparison
How CW-DSD differs
Many PCM-to-DSD tools expose a fixed conversion profile or assume the user wants a single preferred output path. CW-DSD is designed around adaptable conversion while keeping container and channel behaviour explicit.
Compared with fixed-profile DSD encoders
CW-DSD can choose between validated processing profiles according to the source rather than treating every recording identically.
Compared with container-specific tools
DSF, DFF and raw DSD are available from the same encoder, with filename extension used as the normal output-format selector.
Channel preservation
The encoder avoids hidden upmixing or downmixing. Where a container cannot represent every input channel, unsupported extras are omitted rather than folded into other channels.
Command line
Command examples
FLAC to DSF
The output extension automatically selects DSF.
C:\> cw-dsd.exe input.flac output.dsf
WAV to DFF
Write DSD data to a DFF container.
C:\> cw-dsd.exe input.wav output.dff
Explicit output format
Override extension-based selection when an explicit raw output is required.
C:\> cw-dsd.exe input.flac output.bin --format raw
Quiet conversion
Suppress routine progress output for scripts and automated workflows.
C:\> cw-dsd.exe input.flac output.dsf --quiet
Project notes
The adaptive processing system is a core differentiator, but the site deliberately describes its behaviour rather than publishing internal selection or filter-design details.
