Practical comparison
How CW-LPCM differs
Raw and packetised LPCM is awkward because a file extension alone often does not describe enough of the stream. CW-LPCM is intended to recognise supported framing and turn it into a conventional PCM file with minimal user intervention.
Compared with raw PCM import
Where framing information is present and recognised, CW-LPCM can derive the relevant stream layout instead of requiring the user to manually enter every PCM parameter.
Compared with disc-authoring tools
The converter focuses on audio extraction and conversion rather than requiring a complete DVD authoring or demultiplexing environment for the final LPCM step.
Conventional output
The result can be written as standard PCM WAV, making the recovered audio straightforward to inspect or process with ordinary audio software.

Project notes
Public compatibility wording distinguishes format support from sample-validated coverage where uncommon real-world source material is difficult to obtain.
